Error 5 on Zune

Took my Zune off charge this morning and was greeted to a lovely "Error 5, Contact Support" message. I bought my Zune off eBay and given that I'm in Ireland, I assume the warranty doesn't cover me? After a bit of Googling, I can surmise that the Error message basically means it's ****ed! The hard drive itself sounds as if it's trying ever so hard to spin.

Is my best chance of getting this fixed contacting the seller on eBay? Failing that, is there anywhere established in the country that could repair it/

Seems like there are a few options you can do with resetting (soft and hard reset) and reinstalling firmware that might be worth a shot:

is it a Zune 30 or Zune 80

had one the same turned out to be the hard drive had gone south ( zune 80)

Replaced the hard drive and everything is fine

If you have someone in the US that you could send it to that would probably be your best bet if you dont fancy taking it apart your self

The same thing happened to my Zune 80 today. No accident or damage had happened before though there had been some problems since the new firmware upgrade (song counter not displaying, chipmunk versions of some tracks), The Error 5 Contact Support Message showed when I powered on. I've tried reformatting it but all I get is a Please Wait message no.3.

    Think it's shagged now tbh.

    Any suggestions for something new?
