How do I get a part time job in the evenings or weekends

I am currently employed in a full time contract position in the day, but I am finding my wages just aren’t making ends meet. I would love to get a job in the evenings or on the weekends to supplement my income.

Something like taking incoming customer service calls, or even working as a barman would be grand.

However, I find recruiters, job websites, and employers aren’t advertising these types of jobs, I mean they’ve got to be out there.

I don’t think recruiters want to touch these types of jobs because the commission fee for placing a candidate wouldn’t be much, so therefore job websites don’t carry adverts for these types of jobs because recruiters aren’t advertising them… So how do you find them? Any websites I could try? Know of anyone who is looking for evening workers?

    Thanks for any help.

Don't waste your time waiting for places to look for people.

Go into the places CV in hand and ask to speak to the manager/supervisor. Tell them your looking for x/y/z work and you would appreciate if they called you if anything comes up.

Probably the wrong forum though ...

    Moved from Lifehacking.

Part time jobs like the ones you mention are usually found by asking at the business. i.e dropping in to the late night shop/takeway/pub asking do they need shelf stackers/delivery people/barmen etc.

Also a lot of shops are currently looking for christmas staff and have application forms instore.

Look before you leap. Pay much tax? You'll be paying more tax when working in both the new job + current job at the same time. This may mean s small bit extra, or it may mean that whatever extra you work, ends up in the taxmans account, not yours.

Well, you could try the first jobsite in my signature (parttimejobs.ie), or search on jobs.ie with the "show part-time jobs only" box ticked.

I reckon call centres are you best option, or something like working in a bar. I know there is a place on Jervis Street who cold call people asking for their opinion on things... they're always looking for people. They are the door next to McDonalds.

you want a cash in hand job, go around to all your local chipper, food delievery places.

You could also try the caters who work at the music venues around the city, the main people for the RDS are Circuit Catering and Fitzer in Croke Park but there are loads of handy jobs around

Waiting tables means tax-free tips. Also, someone else started a thread like this a while back but I can't find it. Anyway, pizza delivery was suggested, which I thought was a great idea.

Call centres are awful. Avoid if possible.

Let your friends and contacts know you are looking for work, most jobs are filled by contacts.

If you could handle it pulling rickshaws in the city centre can earn you decent money and get you in shape for the holidays. Need to be fairly fit and tolerant of **** however.

Hi so I applied for work at Marks and Spencers and got a call back... the Marks and Spencer employee on the other end of the line said that it was illegal to work over 39.5 hours a week for one employer... but I've worked tons of overtime before at others jobs.. is this true?
