Mods please move if this is in the wrong place.

    Folks,
We had a well sunk on our site to get water for the house. When the plumber connected the water there is a really strong smell of sulphur - rotten eggs - coming from the water. We need to get in a filtration/softener system. Can anyone recommend via PM who they have used in the past?

    We're in Galway.

Thanks folks. Looks as though after spending almost 6,000 on getting a well sunk and a pump, we will have to spend another 3,000 to get proper water into the house. Because of the depth of the well there is a really bad smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) from the water. Will have to get an aeration unit as well as the usual softener unit.

A bit unfortunate. Its these little hiccups that bounce you away over budget.

You could argue that, being in Galway, this investment might actually add value to the property?

I know that's what I'm hoping! As well as the benefits of treated, soft water too, of course :)

Yep, definitely pushed over budget. But if they start to meter mains water then this will pay for itself over a few years. Just have to decide on which company to go with now!!!

Hopefully it will. The neighbour next door is on the mains and theres a horrible smell of chlorine off her water. At least this way we'll have clean water thats been treated properly.
