DId anyone catch this Im surprised it was not mentioned.

    4 year goals for IRFU:

    1. RWC Semi Final
    2. Win 1 6N
    3. Win 1 3C
    4. Top 3 every 6N
    5. Win 1 SA NZ AR ARG Nov internationals
    6. Win 1 SA NZ AR ARG Away game
    7. Win all gems Vs tier 2 countries.

    8. Province to deliver 1 H Cup
    9. Province in SF in H Cup every year
    10. Two province to reach KO stage every year

    11. Province to Win 2 ML
    12. 3 Provnce in ML top 6 every season.

How many of the 12 do you believ we will achieve between now and next RWC?

1 and 2 are gonna be tough and 4 will surely fail at least once. The top 6 ML is not likley but the rest could be achieved.

I think its over the next 4 years not just this season.

They recently reviewed their performance on the goals they set 4 years ago: http://www.independent.ie/sport/other-sports/irfu-goals-the-story-so-far-1484707.html

Probably why the second line of his post is "4 year goals for IRFU".

Unless there is a world cup next year, i think they are 4 year goals also.

The Strategic Plan was announced a couple of weeks ago and it has been discussed here.
There are also many more than 12 points in it.

More completely meaningless muck from the IRFU. What were the ramifications for failing the last strategic plan, for anyone involved? Eddie to lose his job? Was that because of the strategic plan failing (which was done long before the WC) or because of media pressure?

Obviously for the national team, a new coaching team was a "ramification".
Unless of course, you'd prefer the status quo and no plan for the next four years? :p

Coaching staff was a "ramification" (as seen as we're quoting!) of a new head coach being appointed. There was some publicity around that at the time (i.e. Kidney wanting a strong say in his staff, rather than they being apointed for him). Again, though, that ramification happened independently of the last strategic report which had already failed before the WC (and any question of EoS' resignation), and before his contract extension.

Would I prefer no plan? Yes, unless it's going to be acted upong. Why? Well, so we could better spend the thousands of Euro it, presumably, cost.

However, if the IRFU CEO is interested in running it as a business, then the plan will be actionable, will be worth every penny and will focus efforts on success. If.

How much do you presume it cost to put together this plan? Thousands??? It was compiled by the director of each department in conjunction with the corresponding committees relevant to said department.

If you're referring to the Genesis report then that would actually be more relevant cost-wise (since this seems to be the area you've in mind) to the previous Strategic Plan.

People also seem to forget that the strategic plan covers the domestic game too from club to province and from all sorts of programmes such as youths, schools, clubs to refereeing and coaching of all grades.
