Applying for grant during college degree

    Hi

Next year I hope to apply for the grant. I will be going into my 3rd year of a 4th year undergraduate university degree. Just wondering do I still have to apply through the normal grant form (as it requires my CAO number and details of the course I wish to attend) or is there a seperate form for those already in 3rd level?

Many thanks for your help :)

Nope, it's the same form as always although it changes year on year. Just when you're going to sort it out keep an eye on http://www.StudentFinances.ie for updates on the closing dates and whatnot, and of course with your local VEC (who are meant to be taking over the scheme from the Council).

Hi I just wanted to bump this as I have more questions.
My parents are about to move about a 30minute drive outside the city, and will be paying a mortgage. I currently do not have a part-time job and rely on christmas/summer work. I am in two minds of a) either travelling to/from the city each day for college when we move or b) moving back up to the city and living in student housing. When I apply for grant I'm just wondering how it will be determined if I move up to the city? I'm hoping to apply for next year.

The higher rate is paid if you're living more than 24 kilometres from the college. Where your student address doesn't matter (in the case of a non-mature student, you'll be wanting to put down your parents address anyway, especially if it's more than 24 km from the college, in the case of a mature student, the higher amount gets paid regardless)
