    I would say the classic/vintage hobby is big enough now to form a powerful lobby group if the need ever arose.
    Classic vehicles are assets to the country and create large amounts of money for charities which would otherwise have to come from government coffers.
    The hobby also fosters a level of skills and engineering which can only be a benefit to the country.

    Reaslistically, not that many old cars are used as daily drivers. There aren't thousands of 30+ year old cars doing the daily runs around Ireland. The vast majority of these cars are hobby cars, used on dry weekends (i.e. rarely) for entertainment. So, if they were to be taxed heavily, it would be like taxing a hobby. How about a tax on golfers?

    I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but providing a bit of context.
