It's been a good long while since I've been to a gig in the RDS because the sound quality is MONSTROUSLY bad. Avoiding motorhead this halloween because you can't hear anything with the echoes. Last gig I was at in there was a metal festival with motothead - the staff we cnuts about any pits breaking out & crushed them pretty fast.. but that is AGES ago, so it's probably different now.

I went to a gig there once I found that the sound there was reasonably OK but only after the first song or two and I was standing near the sound desk.

Its just a barn. The floor is tarmac and the roof is sheet metal. Terrible gig venue.

Can't remember if there was a pit when i was there.

Hey any of the gigs ive been to in the RDS have had pits. If you want pit tickets you just have to get there earlyish.

The sound in the main hall isn't nearly as bad as the sound in simmonscourt so I wouldnt let that put you off

    Enjoy the gig!:)

Yeah I have been to loads of gigs in the RDS, but only been to the 'Main Hall' once. Hmm I think ill give them a ring and find out for sure! Thanks for all the replies guys :D

Btw How early would you guys recommend arriving before the gig to get pit passes?

9-12 in the day time?? Thats madness they could go at 6 and still get pit passes. Although in saying that some of the emo bands will have fans queuing for days so its hard to tell for them. Try 5 if its an emo band or a band with a young following, enjoy the gig.

if its the band that i think you are on about then i would say maybe q up round 3 or 4 because id say they have a big following and loads of kids will want to be there early.

saw mark knopfler there earlier in the year and there was no pit. that would have been a more reserved gig than a lot, so maybe depends on whos playing...
