Computer sounds

    Hi

was wondering if anyone could help.

Suddenly, a few days ago, my computer started making this beeping sound that Ive never heard before. I actually wasnt sure if it even was my 'puter at first!!

It just started out of nowhere, and stopped for no apparent reason too. I didnt have any other applications open and it was not the low battery warning.

Today however, a different noise is repeating itself. This was the windows warning sound, not sure how to describe it. Im starting to think that somehow the boards that manage the sound inside my computer may be broken.

Can anyone shed ANY light on the situation? Nothing else is wrong with my computer, except a virus was cleared off it and the system was rebooted just before all of this started.

    thanks

Maybe a shot in the dark but I've known pc's to beep if there's a failure in one of the cooling fans. Maybe you could check any fans internally and eliminate them from the equation.

At what point is your computer making these sounds, bios startup (option to enter setup will appear) or within windows?

If it's the bios it could mean anything from a problem with your cooling fans to faulty RAM. If it is the bios then enter setup to find out who made your computer's bios software - could be F1, F2 or Del to enter bios, it all depends on who created your bios ie. Phoenix, Award and so on.

thanks for the advice. I was thinking it had something to do with the fans myself actually. I dont know what made me think that, but it happens after the computer has been of for a while (20-30 mins after startup)

I dont notice the laptop being particularly hot though, so I dont think its at the overheating stage yet.
