Lawnmower - Petrol v electric

    Hi all,
we recently had the back garden levelled and laid with rolls of grass (we built an extension last year, so the garden was the last thing to be tended to)

i've heard from a couple of people that a petrol lawnmower is kinder to, and better for lawns, especially those laid with rolls.
Is there truth to this, and if so, then whats the reasoning?

We do have an electric mower which i've used on the (small) front garden, which is quite mossy.
The back garden is about 8M x 8M, so not huge by any means. The rolls have been down about 4weeks now, and im thinking they may just need a winter trim (first cut) in a couple of weeks.

    any help/advice appreciated.

    cheers
