    Hi all.

Has anyone any recommendation on quinn lite blocks or has used them in their build? I am planning to build a cavity build concrete house with the possibility of using the quinn light as the inner leaf of the cavity. For a well insulated build do they eliminate the need for an internal insulated plasterboard slab....or would be best used in conjunction??

    All suggestions most welcome

    Thanks

    Niall

have a look at page 20 of this document

    http://www.quinn-lite.com/downloads/quinnliteproductguide.pdf

the building regs require you to achieve a U value of 0.27 or less for external walls

The rest of the document gives more info regarding them, I have not used them so I won't comment any more than that.

    1. all they do is help you reach better u values, they dont eliminate the need for anything. To comply with minimum building regs you need to, amongst other things, reach a certain u value figure. Its in your interest to go a lot lower (better!) and this product helps you do it simply because it has better insulating properties than nstandard blocks.

    hi,
I don't know alot about these but i was told by somebody when i was condering using these that you may have to use a certain spec of quin block if you intend to use slabs upstairs. Sorry i don't have the proper info, but i do think you have to take into considersation if you are intending to use slabs on the first floor. Perhaps this isn't applicable to you, if it is applicable it might be worth checking out though
