BT Ireland to expand broadband footprint using E-Net MANs Monday 13 October 2008

BT Ireland has signed a EUR 1.2 million contract with E-Net, operator of Ireland's fibre-optic Metropolitan Area Networks (MANs), to deliver affordable, high-speed bandwidth to the regions. BT Ireland will use E-Net's MANs to launch a range of services, from low-cost Ethernet services at speeds ranging from 10 Mbps to 100 Mbps, to Gigabit Ethernet services at 1,000 Mbps. The contract expands BT Ireland's presence into 94 additional towns. The services will be available across the 27 Phase 1 MANs immediately with the remainder coming on stream if, as expected, E-Net is awarded the contract to manage the remaining 66 Phase 2 MANs. BT has identified mid-to-large businesses and public sector organisations as customers for the new services. The new agreement expands an existing relationship between the two firms. BT already supplies backhaul data services to E-Net that lets MAN customers connect to BT's global network.
