Anyone getting this. 9/10 on ign and a few other places. its out today in the US so going to order from videogamesplus.ca. Not out here till 24th. With Farcry2 out the 24th and Fallout3 the following week, it's going to be an expensive month.

Not to mention PES 09, little big planet, bioshock, moto gp 09 and moterstorm 2:pac:

Thanks, but I disagree. That thread is in the Games forum which I hardly visit. As this is a PS3 game, and this is a PS3 forum and I did not see any thread on Deadspace already, especially regarding release dates, then I think this thread is relevant. Hardly going to check all other subforums.

Might get motorstorm 2. Others would not interest me thankfully, so I won't be too broke :) Tried LBP, played the included levels, lots of user levels, and a little online, and found the controls poor, and the experience eventually got a little boring, but then again I guess this is more for people into building their own levels.

I'm glad this thread was posted here. There might be ps3 related details ,that we'd miss if it was only in the gaming forum.

At least this threads different, I'm more fed up at the volume of LBP threads out there.

Including shipping it cost approximately 43 euro to order from videogamesplus.ca and is of course region free. Hopefully they ship it today.

Average review score on metacritic is 89%. Not bad at all.

    IGN video review here

Also, word is if you buy the game in it's 1st 2 weeks you will have access to free downloadable content, such as specific space suits. Not sure if this is for both US and Europe PS3 stores.

I really like the atmosphere they created, somewhat reminiscent of the opening scene from Aliens with the salvage crew.

Tracking on vgp shows order being processed but game no longer on site for order or preorder. It definitely came out, as ebgames have stock. Wonder what happened.

im not sure if you would be able to download the Suits cause it would be american, though if you Preorder at Gamestop Ireland you get a free Artbook and exclusive Scorpion downloadable skin.

Mine arrived from VG+ yesterday im into the 2nd chapter and im liking it, nice and gory you have to blast off heads and arms to kill the aliens and the atmosphere is spooky with things dropping off desks behind you.

Got it last Friday from them. Really enjoying it also. Definite must buy.

Yeah..noticed it dropped off VG+' site for a while. This was because their shipment was delayed from the supplier and they stopped taking preorders.

Roll on FarCry 2 on Friday and Fallout3 the following week :D

Absolutely no problems due to it being American it plays really well, Its American and Canadian servers all right ( I guess coz its not out here yet ) the only problems I’ve noticed with the game is it can freeze for a half a second every once in a while its fairly rare but I get that on COD too. Its much more team based than COD people don’t tend to run around like headless chickens like in COD this for me makes its more enjoyable.

The HQ ear piece works really well I can hear people perfectly. Got into a nice little gang last night 3 of us working together watching each others backs and talking our way through the maps. I found it really enjoyable, when you spot someone hiding and you tell your buddies and then surround him and before he even knows ye are there he is slaughtered.

You probibly know this but just incase its only an online game like warhawk is. There is no one player missions.

How're the controls? Are they smooth or slow and clunky?

I wanted to have this for friday might cancel the order and get it here as i have games to trade and vouchers to spend before they go out of date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,971 ✭✭✭Flaccus

no, they won't have it in stock until tomorrow. so it will ship tomorrow and you will get it Tuesday. I didn't preorder this at all as I want to play it on release day depending on what I can get on trading old games etc..

For those with Deadspace it supports 1080P though not natively, and you have to go into the PS3 display menu and deselect 720p or it defaults to that. Same as GTAIV or COD4 then.

However, 1080P definitely is more blurry though (same as GTA IV and COD4) and 720p looks better to my eyes. Thanks to the PS3's crappy scalar which uses a 960x1080 buffer and then upscales the rest to 1920x1080.

I installed a new drive yesterday ,so to test it I downloaded Siren blood curse.
Now I'm not sure whether to buy Deadspace tomorrow or go buy something different.

Does deadspace deserve it's own place in this genre ? or is it just one of few games of the same?

Its not as closed in as siren and its easier to see what is after you, both are good games. Im really liking dead space i would recomned it.

+1 for dead space, its a clear resi4\doom3 rip-off but a very good one with all the best of both and some more.

Dead Space is fantastic. Buy it.

Theres a free downloadable suit on psn. And also one to buy ,the free one does actually look better than the original i think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭NotorietyH

Just bought it tonight, and I'm totally terroized by it! The constant tension is getting to me! What I hate and love about it is that unlike most other games, just because you've walked through a corridor doesn't mean it's clear and quite often you'll be attacked from behind. Scares the bejeezus out of me! Loving the game so far.

The downloadable suit, even the the free one on the PSN store doesn't just look cooler, it's got better armour and more inventory slots too. Saves you buying a suit in the store.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,332 ✭✭✭311

I bought the scorpion suit aswell ,its got more room for stuff.
It's definetly a game that gets better ,the longer you play it. The life guage stops screen burn aswell ,which makes it all the better for the owl plasma :)

On the third chapter and really liking it so far. The sound and visuals are top notch. Also you should grab the free Obsidian suit from PS Store while you can, it looks far better than what you start off with.

absolutely loving this game so far however my only gripe with the game is the amount of backtracking in the game. but other than that its top notch!

9th chapter. Really love it. Far cry2 is still wrapped in plastic. Zero g jumping is confusing at times but good crack. Love going zero-g and hearing a monster, he could be anywhere. Line gun is by far the best gun there, flame throwers worst. and it just throws trophies at you.

I'm stuck on the 6th chapter with the meteor:rolleyes:
The force gun is handy for getting rid of them bunches of little things.

If you want to figure it out, don't read below.
Had a problem there too, you do know there's 2 more projectors behind the asteroid out in a vacuum and you don't have to worry about those spinning arms on the other side of the metoer

I was going to quote your post and the spoiler showed up:D
Thanks anyway ,but I'll stick it out for a while. I've only spent about twenty minutes on it.

It's my favourite game for the moment ,I'm glad that little big planet didn't get released now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,920 ✭✭✭AnCapaillMor

    Heh sorry for that.

Your grand ,I didn't read it. I'll know in future if I'm quoting a spoiler reply:P.

Finished it last night, awesome, awesome game. One of the most atmospheric games i ever played. Went to jacks and i was looking over my shoulder ever 2 secs. Even found the peng treasure. you get a bucketload of goodies when you finish it. now to play through again with just the plasma gun.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,509 ✭✭✭NotorietyH

Just a tip, obvious enough really, but if you walk into a room and it's full of corpses, better off just blasting them with a couple of shots of the force gun to dismember them. Because more often than not they'll get turned into necromorphs sooner or later. Save a lot of hassle and terror later! :P

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,332 ✭✭✭311

Seemingly you can't change the difficulty in the game ,when you ve finished it.

You have to start a fresh to increase difficulty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,920 ✭✭✭AnCapaillMor

Yep thats true, kinda pissed me off too, would'nt mind starting the hardest level with the extra's you get at the end.

Which is probably why they limited it in the first place :P You've got to earn that gold trophy the hard way!
