Help, I'm lost!!!!

Right, I've had a few tracks in demo form for about a year now and am finally going to get down to doing something with them. I'm pretty sure a lot of you had a listen to them and most of the feedback was good (well maybe a few comments on some terrible mixing which I will throw my hands up to, no problem) So then my questions....

Any ideas on how to get a vocalist involved?? I seem to write a lot of pretty chilled out electro type stuff and most comments have mentioned a female singer would suit??

I work with reason 4 and ableton with a few plug ins like massive, one of my problems is I can't quiet get rid of that typically reason sound?? Suggestions?

Can't mix, don't know how, mostly deaf from playing bass beside a ridiculously large cab, can I get a better job done of it by someone who knows what the hell they're doing??

Lastly anyone have any suggestions as to how to bring something that is essentially me and a laptop to a live setting without it being, er, me and a laptop on stage (works for Kraftwerk but there's four of them and besides being genius they're also German, not sure why but I don't think i'll get away with it and I don't have enough money to develop some robots to take away the tricky task of performing)!!

Finally, apologises for being a complete and utter noob!!!!!!

    Nothing to apologise for there.

The simplest thing is to set up on MySpace + Bebo and get your tunes up there with background info.

Then post on the Bands section saying who/what you're looking for and refer them to MySpace and/or Bebo.

Reason has become the 'Les Paul through a Marshall' of the soft synth world. It sounds like what it sounds! If you don't like that you need to use something different...

    Cheers Paul,

Went down the Myspace & bebo route and well it was a bit of a non runner, I think mainly because people want to listen to finished stuff not just backing tracks!!! Took down my pages thinking that I might be better off getting something done and putting up a finished article!!

Sent in a demo to Jackie Hayden at Hot Press to get some feed back and he said I sounded like Ultravox (which was brilliant) and very cinematic but that without vocals he couldn't say what he thought of the songs, before mentioning my lack of conviction if I hadn't already got vocals. So to that ends I decided to egtsome vocals done!!

As for Reason, I quiet like the sound from it, especially with Thor but I've encountered a bit of snobbishness (er, I could've made that word up) in relation to things done on Reason?? Something along the lines of it "only being a Reason track"!!!

Cheers for the advice though, remember you threw a good few golden nuget my way when I posted up here onriginally!!!:D

I think that's true of consumers, but if you're looking for a vocalist then it should be a good 'shop window' to let them know what you do.

if you want vocalists then go find them.
go to artist pages on myspace(or bebo)
if you like there voice send them an email, ask them would they be interested.
go to some live shows, same again if you like someones voice maybe go have a chat with them(obviously dont approach anyone too famous)
the people out there who also want to be heard so if you offer then another way for them to get noticed im sure most will oblige.
as for the reason sound, the way to get away from it is to make your own synth sounds, but this is hard because reason doesnt allow 3rd party apps like synths or effects(i think they dont)get another daw that lets you include the use of 3rd party software.you can always sell reason
