Cancelling a Sky product before the month is up

I have a sky+ subscription plus the movie channels. I added Sky Sports for the Ryder Cup last month, the 19th September to be exact.

I just called Sky to cancel, I know there is a minumum payment of one month and I've no problem with that.

But the month is not yet up and Sky say that I cant cancel until the 19th. Basically they say I have to ring back on the 19th again to cancel.

I asked to speak with a supervisor to confirm this, and they confirmed it.

Personally I think this is a sly way to operate, I think some people will forget for a day or two perhaps getting charged another month.

Surely I can cancel whenever I like?

    Can anyone advise?

This has been mentioned before. That is just the way they operate.

In the past I have rang them 2/3 days before (provided I had the upgrade for more than one month) and they will switch it off, they just say you realise you will lose it straight away.

Actually once I got my dates mixed up and it had went into the next month, and the dd had went through, and they switched it off and the amount I had already paid just came off the next bill.

Because you have to upgrade for at least one month at a time I think that why they told you ring back on the 19th, I reckon, on my experience anyway, that had you been upgraded for more than a month they would be ok about it.
