Alternative game with the race numbers is to see if you'll finish faster than the person who ran with the equivalent number last year (search engine on the results section of the marathon website).

My equivalent had dead even splits last year to finish in 3:48, but hopefully I'll get in ahead of her!

That makes 4:48 my target time based on who had my number last year.

my guy was at least 15 years older than me but came home in a very respecable 3:33. He had 1:50 for the first half so must have done the second half in 1:43, pretty impressive pacing. I'm aiming for 3:39:59 so not a million miles away.

It seems no one had my number, 6943, last year

Yeah, I'm the same. No one seems to have raced with my number last year.

Its on! My race number this year 6709 brought up no results but 6708 last year ran 3'29 (1'39/1'50') and my goal is to crack 3'30... game on! Although I'll pace it more evenly...

My counterpart in '07 was >50F and finished in 7:30, so i'll be gutted if they beat me with my target time of 4hrs!

07:01:16 for me to beat on number 2680

    Nice

Nobody had my number last year, so instead, I'm going to try and beat everyone who had my surname. M50 @3:47. I was going to try by first name, but Gary Crossan got that one pipped in 2:26:58.

Or else try and get into the top 10% of the field, which uncannily, based on last year's number, is almost the same as my target time (3:24:01). I just hope that the extra 3000 entrants are all slower than me!

Mine finished in 5.05. SHOULD beat that, things go wrong though. :pac:

My No. 4607 finished in 4:27:06 last year. My target for this year is 04:29:29. (My out loud is 4:35:00). Now that is something to aim for.

    #8890 for me this year.
This number did it in 4h18min last year, while I lost my marathoner virginity in Dublin in 4h26min (position 4717).
    Game is on!

KC - Gary Crossan was a couple of years ahead of my in school and we were in the athletics club at the same time. I remember we did the beep test once and him and his best mate (who's name I can't remember but who is also a sb 2:30 marathoner) seemed to go on forever, long after the rest of us had been thrown off.

My number last year came in in 4:47 so I should be ok beating that... Only one person with my surname ran it last year, in 3:33 so again that should be beatable. The fastest with my first name came home in 2:57:57 so I'm well beaten by that :( (unless I restrict it to my 1st name and category muhahahah)

[edit]1000 posts, woo hoo! I don't have a real life!!

Have to beat 4:30 - even tho its my first marathon if I don't beat that i'll have to wonder what the last 9 month of training were about!
