I never watch it. I remember seeing some stuff on it years back, and thinking(or whatever you think the christian equivalent is:)) 'what a pile of cr@p'.

Don't know who runs the station, what its goals are etc etc. But I avoid it, and certainly would never encourage its viewing based on what I've seen, and the reports of others.

I've me the owners of the station a few times, and they are very sincere about what they are doing. Unfortunately they are not very discerning and so most of the programmes appear to be made by nutjobs or snakeoil salesmen.

It certainly doesn't represent the views or methods of the majority of evangelical or Pentecostal Christians.

I'd pretty much go with that.

I imagine that it certainly wouldn't be my cup of tea. Do you have to subscribe to it?

I've seen it a few times, not enough to critique but it scares me to think there are people like that in the world.

I would assume you don't agree with their beliefs so is it just the communications techniques they are using you'd disagree with?

Did you mean to type agree or disagree? I disagree profoundly with the beliefs of some of the preachers on the God Channel.

Initially many Evangelicals & Pentecostals were supportive of the God Channel, seeing the potential of a station that would present Christian truth in a relevant way. Unfortunately the God Channel did not turn out to be such a station.

It costs huge amount of money to run a TV station. Therefore they tend to auction air time to the highest bidders - who are usually those who teach a Prosperity Gospel designed to part viewers from their money.

The God Channel further alienated many Christians by its enthusiastic promotion of a particularly vomit-worthy piece of brazen flim-flammery called the Florida Healing Outpouring with Todd Bentley.

I also found it disturbing when the station extended its programming to the US and one of the founders, Wendy Alec, began 'prophesying' against Barack Obama. Maybe I'm too PC, but I find something very uncomfortable when a white South African starts invoking God to persuade Americans not to elect their first black President.

I agree with the "invoking God" part, for obvious reasons, however the rest is a gross generalisation and frankly, smacks of ignorance about "white South Africans".

That's very interesting. Excuse the typo. Do you think it would be possible to have a Christian TV station that would have broad support amongst Christians? If not, why not?

Agh, stop trying to manufacture a problem.

Christianity began as a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. When it went to Athens, it became a philosophy. When it went to Rome, it became an organization. When it spread throughout Europe, it became a culture. When it came to America, it became a business. :)

My old man watches Benny Hinn on these channels, I wouln't be too gone on them at all, once I see the credit card symbol at the bottom of the screen I smell a rat.

I've seen some good stuff on UCB and Revelation. But some poor stuff too - albeit much less the the God Channel. The latter is really the pits! I think Goebells would have produced more spiritually edifying programs.

when we lived in the uk we subcribed to the god channel, but they sent so many letters that asked for money we stopped,if in fact they need money why keep sending post and wasting money,i also am put off by the showmanship there is on it,and i`m fed up explaining to people who knowing i`m a christian want to know why there are people that seem off their trolley on the god channel, and asking for an explaination of the emotionism and falling down and vibrating all over the show, crying and wailing,i tend not to tell anyone i meet my beliefs now,as i do believe in the gifts of the spirit but to explain it after a person see`s the god channel is embarassing,
