FTV CARD ITV1 CHANGE?

Hi Folks, not sure if this has come up before but its something I noticed by chance over the weekend.

I sat down to watch England v K...........n! . Suddenly,commentator Clive Tyldesley said if you press your red button you can watch in HD, so, as the ITV picture is not great anyway,I said to myself maybe you can now get ITV HD on Sky and might as well stick my FTV card into the HD box.. Anyway,after I pulled the card out of my standard box the old message, Insert your Sky viewing card came up. I was tuned to 103, ITV1 Anglia W. Said to myself,mmm is ITV encrypted again,hope not. Anyway, 993 ITV1 LONDON and all the other ITV regions in other channels still worked without the card. Still interesting though why 103 was encrypted. Maybe others can check.. Needless to say I wasted my time as ITV hd was still not on Sky Digital..!!

ITV HD is available on the freesat HD box via the red button for certain events.

Some of the ITV sub regions went FTV around the time of launch of freesat. Looks like ITV Anglia west is one of those regions. ITV done this to free up valuable space on astra 2d for freesat channels.

thanks,although I cant quite get my head around that. I thought when ITV broke from Sky's conditional access system that was it- they were FTA.

They are FTA but only certain receivers can pick up ITV HD because of the unusual transmission parameters. I think the idea is to keep it off sky boxes.

Incorrect. Some of the ITV sub regions are now FTV.

The Regions are as follows:
ITV 1 Meridian Suss*x
ITV 1 Thames Valley South
ITV 1 Anglia TV West
ITV 1 Yorkshire TV East
ITV 1 Tyne Tees TV South
ITV 1 Central TV South West

All can be found at 12402 v 27500 2/3 free to view. UK Sky viewing card required.

Tony, this thread is not about ITV HD. its about itv on 103 on the origional posters sky box asking for a viewing card to be inserted.

And as not to cause further confusion. No there are no itv hd sub regions!!

Yes but a point was raised about ITV HD and I responded in that context, before correcting a post please read it in context.

Tony, This is the post you are referring to and the post you highlighted in post no 5. What has this to do with ITV HD.

Widescreen says he could not get his head around ITV regions going back to Skys conditional access system.
You reply by saying they are free to air. Its on this point i am correcting you. They are not all free to air. Nobody in this thread has stated that ITV HD is not free to air. If you can point out to me where they have, then ill stand corrected.

Take pathetic bickering to PM.

As givecredit has said, ITV1 Anglia W. is FTV, and as Tony said, ITV HD is not receivable currently on a SkyHD box.
