Call me a cynic, but does anyone else here get a sense of deja vu when listening to Brian Cowen lately???

Well remember when the Irish football team were performing like our economy is at the moment, namely one failure after the other??? We had The Gaffer saying the exact same thing back then, that Biffo is saying now!

"We're working to be successful for the next major campaign..." Stan

"We're working to take advantage of the next economic upswing..." Biffo

There are more similarities. The two of them look like they have been cut from the same cloth to me...

How about Stan running the country and Biffo managing our soccer team? Pointless exercise though, would get same results

    Another similarity...

Both individuals were "annointed" for their respective positions as distinct from being properly "selected". In both cases, they were "assumed" to be the right man for the job.

    Not really.

Stan was selected by a ten-man committee if I remember correctly and Cowen was elected by Dáil.

Was Stan not annointed by Delaney and was Biffo not the annointed one by Bertie??? In Stan's case, as far as I know, the ten man committee only had to make a recommendation to Delaney and two others. In any event, we know that the FAI is a political organisation that doesn't make competency based decisions but rather runs on whatever gut feeling the top man might have at a particular point in time, usually lacking any transparency and due process. In the case of Biffo, the decision that Biffo was next at the helm was made long before the dail vote that officially made him so...

That's how things work. Same with Gordon Brown. Nobody else in FF went against him

Did anyone else notice that they are also both male and hatless?
