    hi everyone,

i have created a custom service.
i have global port range 6000-6000
    base port 6000

    protocal udp.

i am trying to connect to a friends pc in italy,
he can see me but i cant see him.

when i get canyouseeme.org to check if the port is open it times out.

    any ideas?

    thanks

    hi,
i have my router set to low from the days i was using torrents.

the machine i am trying to connect doesnt have any firewall.

would the firewall not have a bigger issue with the incomming traffic?

he can get in ok, it seems to be me getting out.

    thanks for the reply

How do you mean you getting out? Are you able to ping his server at all?

    hi,
i can ping him ok, but i have been told it uses a different protocol,

we have a green light/ red light thing set up,

his is green showing he is connected to me on port 6000.

mine is red showing as not connected to his port 5555,

he is also linked to other machines that are connecting through his 5555 port.

so i think the problem is on my side.

    Firewall only affects incoming traffic

    Is this for gaming purposes?

    What software are you using?

not for gaming but the same prinicpal i think,

i didnt build it but its using linux.

i have followed the steps on portforward.com.

what i can't understand is that he can connect to my machine, but i can't connect to his.

is it possible that the router is allowing incomming traffic on port 6000 but not allowing me to get out?

problem solved by ditching the netopia router and changing to a btvoyager,

was able to set the DMZ and everything worked fine.

    thanks to those that replied.
