Is this a mighty mouse? Just disconnect it and give it a wipe.

There's no easy way of getting at it tbh. You'd have to remove the whole top casing.

When you remove the battery can you see the underside of the trackpad? You might be able to wiggle around a bit with a piece of paper or something, knock any dry bits.

Nope fraid not, no access to anything like that from battery compartment. Sorry to say it means removing the top cover. Unless you have experience of dismantling Apple portables I wouldn't advise a DIY on this. I've opened up a couple of iBooks & PowerBooks and even then only with the aid of the Apple service manual for that model. On the other hand if you're feeling really gung-ho you could look for your model here http://www.ifixit.com/

You can definitely see the underside of the trackpad from the battery compartment on Macbooks (I'm not sure about MBPs). He wouldn't be able to clean it from there but it might be possible to poke around a bit with a piece of folded paper.

I wouldnt like to risk opening it up myself now, but if i was to bring it into an apple store, would they sell track pads or at least be able to open them up in there?

I dont think the apple car thing would cover it as it was my own fault. plus i havnt actually bought it with my package so would ave to buy it first.

I got Coke under one of the right shift key before, it stayed sticky for a while but eventually wore out after repeatedly pressing it !

No hands on experience with the innards of a MBP but if it's anything like the PowerBook, the track pad is an integral part of the top casing. So you should only go for a replacement part as a last resort. If the service technician is willing to do a 'McGyver' he might try a tiny amount of switch cleaner and blast of aero duster to free up the button.
