The 08/09 Flag Football season will be starting soon. I have contacted all previous teams but am interested in anyone looking to start a new team.

Sorry I missed that bit out.

Flag Football is the non contact version of American Football. It has been the starting point for many of the colleges who are playing in the Irish American Football League.(IAFL)

It is also a sport in it's own right with European and World Championships.

Teams are co-ed in our league, many leagues in fact.

We have a rule that awards ladies 9 points for a Touchdown instead of the normal 6. Some consider this a little patronising to women but I consider it totally realistic.

At International level, Flag is played in seperate mens and womens teams.
Mexico Women won the World Championship in Canada this year.

Ireland had never entered any of these tournaments...yet.

Tournament / League should be starting in a few weeks.
Working on getting groups/divisions in order at present.

Rules are on the EFAF site in the downloads sections.

    Basically it's a 5v5 game with up to 10 on a roster. Fields is 25-30 x 60-80.
Ball is spotted on the 5yd line to start and it's 4 goes to get over the half way line to get a 1st down and 4 goes to get to the end zone.
Game time is varied , 2 x 20 min halfs is normal or 2 x 12 min halve in tourny play.
    No blocking allowed.
    No punts of field goals.
No diving with the ball, ball is respotted where flag is pulled.
QB cant advance the ball directly from the snap.
Ball is dead when it touches the ground, no fumbles.
5yd no run zone in front of the end zones.
6pts for TD, 1 pt for PAT from 5yd out and 2 pt for PAT from 12tds out.
    Ladies get 9pts for TD.

The game looks simple until you you are 28-0 down to a bunch of kids.
