You will probably get a more knowledgeable response in the Militaria Forum, I'll move the thread there.

    Hi pm,

unfortunately, there's not much to go on from the pic and description. Although he mentions that he doesn't know if they are genuine or not.

    Hi pm.

I cant say for sure if they are fake or not, but what I can say is that I have an identical pair of binoculars, but they aint marked Carl Zeiss, they are marked 'ORBIT', in the same engraved white font. They aint very high quality at all. I'd imagine those bino's are also cheapo ones marked as 'Zeiss' to up the price.

See any resemblence with the picture I posted? I certainly wouldnt be placing anymore bids on that set, £52 so far seems crazy!

I can imagine, that this is the model used during the war, but we have similar model brown leather instead of black used by my greatgranddad between the wars so this piece could be original WWII as well from the 50's or 60's...

But it looks too fresh to be a genuine item used during the war by soldier in the field. My opinion...

The 1917 ones are nice! Not a bad price either. I got myself a pair of Bino's last week too, a set of German WW1 'Fernglas 08', missing their case though :(, optically very good (once the lenses were given a little clean. I'm beginnign to develop a linking for military binoculars! :P Let us know what you think of them when you recieve them.

    Here's my British WW1 binos:

    And my WW2 Zeiss binos:
