Anyone having problems logging in? I'm getting an error -2096 which seems pretty unique, but lots of people are having problems getting on with various errors.

No problems with me. I just bought an album and an app without issue.

Haven't been able to login for weeks, ever since I upgraded to iTunes v8 on mac. Numerous complaints to Apple Support, to no avail. Can't even download a podcast!

Righto, useless contacting Apple as you would expect. problem persisted despite uninstalling/reinstalling 7 and 8. On Apple forums, someone suggested making a new location in the Network system prefs, and Hey presto!!

It was really weird because all other machines used the same router including a MacBook and Touch, and they worked fine. Strange one.

How does one go about uninstalling 8 and reinstalling 7?

Did you try the new location in Network System Preferences first? If you have, go here http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1224

You can then download and install 7.
