UTV to Blueface Number Porting Problem

    Hi

I currently have a utv clicksilver account for my phone and broadband.

Last week I switched my broadband to UPC.

I now want to port my number from utv (they use eircom lines) to blueface and cancel the utv account.(to do away with my line rental)

According to the blueface port request form I need to confirm that all dsl traces must be removed from the old line before it can be ported successfully.

The problem is I rang utv and they hadn't a clue what I was talking about.
The guy on the phone said the only way they can remove dsl is to cancel my phone service.

But blueface say that you must not cancel your old phone service as the porting request does this automatically.

Has anybody on this forum managed to port from utv to blueface, if so how did you go about doing it?

I am really worried I am going to loose my land line number with all this messing about.

This is for Blueface to sort out, ring their customer care and get them to explain what they want / sort it for you.

It's not for Blueface to sort out.

Move back to Eircom for line rental. You'll only need to be with them a couple of days. Cancel the BB with UTV. Ask Eircom to confirm it has been cancelled. Now port.

I had to go through this with BT and it took a long time. Once I moved back to Eircom it was done in a week.

The guy in UTV is talking through his a**e just tell them you want to cancel BB and then move back to Eircom.

    Buzzer sound....... WRONG!

The supplier you are porting to is responsible for porting your number and taking care of all the loose ends like this, I can only suppose that your experience was due to BT ineptitude/laziness.

OP call Blueface and get them the info they require.

Paulm is right you cannot port your number without going through Eircom

You have to move your account back to eircom then port your number from there

if you do not the forms go off and 4 months later Blueface will tell you the same thing move to eircom and apply again.

Apparently Eircom will not port the number while it is allocated to another provider

Its the great regulator we have

What i think you are referring to is if you are moving from one PSTN supplier to another but that is not the case here the number is moving off the PSTN network completely.

Ah yes it is not porting in the true sense so, just ported to Smart from TT in 5 days recently so €ircon thinking they can do this is funny. WhyTF has not one single minister for comms had any backbone in the last 20 years?

Blueface do not care who your BB provider is, if you already have BB from UPC then just cancel the DSL BB from UTV (good luck with that BTW) as all they want is the number, if that doesn't work well after all OP it is only a number but that's not the point.
