Lads firstly apologies for starting a thread on something that has obviously been discussed in the past.....

I started off about 6 months ago with my mate's old Gemini pt1000 turntables... ive come to the stage where i want to invest in my own, and would like the best (if i can afford!)

so are technics 1210s the best of the best? I do some scratching, are there turntables that are better for different styles?
and if 1210s are the best, is there much of a difference between the various releases of these? (ive seen a few differnent ones on Thomann)

cheers for the help, much appreciated.

its not really about them being the best.more that there the standardlike if you play in a club theyll more than likely have technics so its good to get used to them(although there not essential in most clubs now since the cdjs came about)
my opinion is the vestax pdx 2000 is the best deck around, especially for scratching.its rock solid and the straight tone arm holds the groove better.its got more torque and a bigger pitch range.
that being said if i was recommending a deck id still tell you to get the technics simply because thats whats gonna be in the clubs.
as for the difference across the range, its very slight.i honestly dont see any real benefit of the mk5 over the mk 2(ive had all 3 decks i mentioned)id go with the mk 2,s because there cheaper but you wont notice any drop in perfeomance compared to the mk 5.
oh and another one that people do ask.
no theres no difference betwe the black and silver ones:D

I don't mean to hi-jack the thred but is there a huge difference between cdj800s with a mixer versus the 'DJ Console MK2' here http://www.hercules.com/uk/DJ-Music/bdd/p/12/dj-console-mk2-virtualdj-djc-ed/

Is the DJ console just like a combination of the two decks and mixer? I would be using it with Virtual DJ
