    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7661927.stm

Good ol' Somali pirates are at it again, invading ships and getting a hefty ransom of €1.6 million.

I just find it bizarre that they are allowed to sail away into the sunset with the money!

My thought were - Dispatch Helicopter- Arm it to the teeth- Blow these Mofos' to pieces in their poxy little dingy!!!

(Also the ship was carrying a sh*t load of weapons, all that was needed was a Steven Segal type crew member to go on a rampage...... these people just have no imagination)

When i heard about these somali pirates I thought it was class that there were still pirates alive and well...
But when i learned of their modern tactics, i thought, HELL YEAH! Now they use guns n 'nades instead of poxy cutlasses...

It's a fairly crazy situation though... ya'd sorta think some nation might just act unilatterally to kick those peg-legged somalis - but hélas, international maritime law must be respected... so once they've finished filling out the UN forms and Documents, Steven Sea-Gull may go to work!

    The UN MR50S form:
    1. Please state in less than 50 words why you need to deploy Segal.
    2. Will you use Segal for;
    a) killing rogue ex-naval crew who have taken over a US naval ship?
    b) getting into sexy situations with the cake-dwelling lady
    c) killing somali pirates
    d) Cooking a meal for you - he's just a chef!
    e) to show off his lovely half-native-american hair
    3. If you use segal will you promise to put him back in his box in the same condition you found him?
    Etc.. SRL... and so on

When the polar caps melt, Ireland is going to get covered over with water, So were going to have these big oil rigs with people living on them, Then theres going to be all pirates on jet skis with UZI's trying to rob the rigs, Kevin Costner and Steven Seagal will then high five each other....Then fight all the pirates with smokes in their mouths!

I'd imagine that they don't disarm and carry the explosives away with them when they leave man, I'm figuring it's a "we'll remote detonate the bombs if anyone so much as looks at us before we are well on our way home and we get a call from our mates saying they have the cash" kinda thing.

Ok fair enough, but judging by the photo it was 6 lads in a poxy dingy with a few AK's and a rocket launcher.

How did they even get on the boat in the first place....
    What probably happened:

"Hey you up there, throw us down a ladder!!"

    "Ehh ok, please don't shoot"
    What should have happened:

"Hey you up there, throw us down a ladder!!"

"Eat lead mutha f******" ratatatatatatatat *Siege over*:D

    Bolded the important part.
Ships don't function too well with a hole in the side of them.

During the Troubles in Northern Ireland, two coaster ships were hijacked and sunk by the IRA in the lapse of a year, between February 1981 and February 1982.

Domestic terrorism AND piracy? Talk about a busy lot...

At one stage trawlers were using their nets to dredge up coal from one of those ships

    Pirates with T-72 tanks

Depends on who you believe. The Kenyans say that the tanks are meant for them, but The Economist hinted that they could have been destined for Sudan (them genocidal butchers of Darfur fame) in exchange for cheap Sudanese oil for Kenya once things calm down.

These pirates have been at this for a while. People are only hearing now that they've managed to nab cargo that sounds exciting on the evening news. But the Somali coast is real important trade route, and piracy raises the prices we have to pay for goods. I imagine the price of a T-72 has sky-rocketed down at the local tescos...
