I don't really get why people get so furious about cold calls and job emails. I got a call this morning, and just said that I was happy where I was, but thanks for the call. No need to be unprofessional about it.

You shouldn't take it personally op, unless of course they have been repeatedly emailing you personally and not just part of a mailing list? I presume you work in IT so you should be well aware of the many different ways to deal with spam!

Yup, I used to get constant emails from that crowd with some great jobs on it. None of them existed when I called them though. I emailed them, asking to take me off their list. They replied, asking if I'd found a job. I replied, CCing ComReg on it, asking to be removed from the list. They stopped.

Well, they have your e-mail address in their database because you either applied for a job with them before, or you have your CV in one of the CV databases, such as the one on Monster.ie.

I can understand your frustration, but a simple "please remove my details, including my CV and e-mail address from your database" would have done the same trick.

By the way, an IT Support Manager is someone who is in charge of a companies IT support department... you know, the guys who fix your computer.

I think most recruitment agents must have learning difficulties if not actually mental retardation.

I was looking for a job in Scotland and had my CV on monster.co.uk and had changed my preferences to show I was only looking for work in Scotland, NOT Ireland.

As soon as I did this...I got a raft of calls from idiot recruitment agents in Dublin trying to get me to go for jobs that were, quite frankly, insultingly poorly paid, or completely outside my skillset.

And they still persiste, even when I said "I'm moving to Edinburgh!".

Agreed, admittedly I had a few on board when I posted this and sent the email.:o

This guy used to ring me trying to place me into roles that had no relevance to my skills. I would get multiple mails in Green font size 60 almost daily.

Enough to piss even the most tolerant off!! Oh and regarding the ladies lounge post - go f*ck yourself
