Has anyone sucessfully setup their eircom pop3 email on an iPod touch.

I've entered all the settings both manually & by syncing with Outlook on my PC and I can send emails alright but just cant receive any.

I've also had this problem using gmail so its obviously some setting on the ipod itself is the problem

I view my eircom email through microsoft outlook, this is called pop3 email rather than viewing it through webmail.

Eircom have settings to use their email like this so it is possible to use it on mobile devices like the ipod touch that have email programs

    Firstly the details...

    POP Server: webmail.eircom.net
    SMTP Server: mail1.eircom.net

The problem is, Eircom changed the way their servers operate, no longer can you use your SMTP server under any provider... you'll have to change it anytime you connect to a new network (BT to mail.iol.ie, Imagine to mail.imagine.ie etc.)

A real pain to be honest - I use Gmail, no servers need to be changed - and its IMAP.

yeah I saw that on their website.

I have my mail server details right and I have been able to send but not receive mail.

Same thing happened when I entered the details for my gmail account.

I might try imap, i noticed the setting for this as well on their website for the new webmail users which my account now is

Sorry I take it all back it was down to my stupidity that it wasn't working.

I had deleted and re-created my account in Outlook for my email last week (to change to eircoms new settings) and I never ticked the box to leave the emails on the server when they were received so thats why I wasn't getting them on the iPod.

    Yay ..... it works. Yippee

I'm using Thunderbird to collect my mail. I haven't been able to receive any email for the last week but I can send fine. I don't even get a receive error, I just don't get any mail.
