Thanks for the tip. It found another 32 instances of Virtumonde (a.k.a antivirus 200x) that spyware doctor missed.

Just given one of the laptops from work with it on. Thought would be easy enough but its a messy fecker. Have CA TM as anti virus/pest control but it seems to have been totaly messed up by VP antispyware 09. Have run various virus/pest control but nothing seems to work. At this stage might just run the recovery disks rather then waste time trying to fix. The laptop should be syncd with server os wont loose any info realy.

    Hi There,
I came accross this virus last week *antivirus 2009*, and it was a right Bugger to get rid of, it took about 4 hours to completely remove it.

What I did was: Run, SpyBot Search And Destroy (http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-Destroy/3000-8022_4-10122137.html) did the trick. This will remove most of the virus. It depends though how long it has been left untreated on your PC. In order to run Spybot search and destroy, you need to rename the spybot.exe to anything else like eg. mickey.exe as the virus recognises the name, and disables the exe. but once spybot runs, this will get rid of most of the virus.

Then go to Regedit. HKEY LOCAL MACHINE - Software - and look for a folder name, it will be something like Rx7429psE, (I cant remember the exactly name sorry), but you delete this key.

then you Run "Malwarebytes anti-malware" - Search for the name in google

    Then Run Emco Malware Destroyer.

These 3 I think are the best scumware removal tools out there, and they got rid of that awful virus "antivirus2009" no problem. I use them all the time, when I am on the road. If anyone knows any other very good spyware removal tools, feel free to get in touch.

    Hope this helps.

All you need to do is run MalwareBytes anti-malware

The other things are useless and wont help
