Cancelling a Ryanair flight

I'm due to fly to London next week, but can't because I'm sick - but I'd already checked in.

I can't see any way of cancelling the flight on the Ryanair site, and have tried both the phone numbers advertised several times - they appear to be out of order.

Is there an email address where I can contact the company to cancel the reservation? I can't see one on the website, but it would seem only courteous to do so.

I tried calling two Irish Ryanair numbers and one British one on Skype, which gobbled up half my Skype credit.

Just dont turn up - it will probably cost you as much as the flight cost to ring and inform them.

I've emailed the 'travel advisory' address - what more can I do, having tried to phone them. It seems so rude - I wish they had a working email address one could use.

Pretty sure Ryanair do not do cancellation (that's what travel insurance is for).

Changes after check in are not allowed.

Of course they do cancellations. They don't however tend to refund any monies paid due to the 'admin cost'. In fact they love cancellations as they get the opportunity to sell a seat more than once.

The only issue here is that you'd already checked in, but as you'll not get scanned in at the security check point in the airport they will soon figure out that your not actually in the airport and so won't waste their time calling you over the tannoy.

It seems ironic that someone doesn't want to be rude to Ryanair!

Just don't show up OP. Ryanair wouldn't hold a flight for you anyway, especially for online check-ins.

I'd just like my seat to be available to someone else. Ryanair staff have put me on an earlier flight sometimes, which was convenient for me, and probably for them. If they knew my seat on the flights out and back wouldn't be used, they could give it to someone else. Or hold it for someone else.

(I think travel insurance is for the *airline* cancelling, not for your doing it.)

you're being too nice, they'll sell the seat at a higher premium and charge the airport charges twice. Leave the seat empty.

Hmm, but our world needs those seats filled.

Already we're doing crazy things, flying gallons of 'duty-free' alcohol around and using up precious fossil fuels to do it, and wrecking our ecology. I don't want to add to it.

I have to do these monthly trips at the moment, but if I can lessen their effect, I'd be glad to.

well without you and your luggage and your cheap booze on the flight it'll be lighter - see, you're helping the world already!

Jesus it's Ryanair ffs! They don't care if you don't show up, they have your money in the bank.

You don't think stuff like this happens all the time and they don't plan for it? O' Leary's Merc won't be getting repo'd just yet.

    Screw 'em.

Actually I have a question about Ryanair and cancelling - I had a flight booked but it didn't suit me (didn't look into it fully before booking - lesson learned). Have now a different flight booked on the same day...Didn't do the changing of flights because it actually worked out more expensive than having two booked.

So what do I do? Do I ring up and cancel one or.....Don't want to arrive at check-in and be earmarked as a terrorist :)

    🤪

Sabre0001, to be blunt Ryanair couldn't care less if you're booked on 10 flights due to depart at the same time! Even if you checked in for both it wouldn't be an issue. Luckat, is your flight sold out yet? If it's not then freeing your seat up is not an issue at the moment, it will be allocated to anyone on standby once you don't show up anyway.

I don't know if my flight's booked out - is there a way of finding out? I'm going to leave it at that; I've done my best to contact the company - calls, emails.

Ryanair won't refund you for your flight. If you do, you MIGHT (after a long bureacratic tangle with various ombudsman's etc) get back the cost of the flight itself I think, but not the cost of the extra fees and charges. There's a reason why you can't contact them, they don't do customer service. You might aswell forget that money, it's gone.Just don't show up.They don't do you the courtesy of allowing you to contact them and explain, so why bother doing them the courtesy of worrying and trying to offer an explanation? If you do cancel, they'll take your money and sell your seat again. If you don't cancel they'll take your money and have an empty seat.Your choice! (Needless to say I'm not a fan and don't fly with them, because I know how they work!))

IS there a way of reclaiming the government taxes if you dont fly? Has anyone done this?
They dont have to pay the gov for you if you dont fly so it should be refunded.

It's not government taxes, they are the charges that the airport makes to the airlines for each passenger passing through their facility but just get called "taxes" to make them sound a bit more official.

Anyway, you can claim them back from Ryanair, but you'll get charged an administration fee for claiming them back and that is basically the same cost so you'll end up with nothing.
