'Paul White' is an author who has some very good general introductory books in sound engineering and is also a 'sound on sound' magazine reviewer.

I think he's the editor too.

"Modern Recording Techniques" by Huber & Runstein

Not a bundle of laughs but covers most things. It has been out a good while but has had several makeovers along the way.

While on the topic, does anyone have a copy of the Yamaha Sound Reinforcement Handbook they would be willing to send to a cash strapped student?!:D

Now there's a blast from the past! I haven't even heard mention of it in about 15 years. I used to read and re-read and re-read that book. And look where it got me; Moderating a music production internet forum.:P
