Fifa 09 Long Ball

    Anyone else finding this awful hard to defend? The ball is played over your defence, and your last player stops for a sec, then the striker is one on one with the keeper???
    also, its very hard to score from a high cross........:mad:

    Have not played much 2 player yet so not sure of the long ball. I have found the through ball to be a great way to get one on one. The high cross I have scored a few bit easier to score than last years but does still be annoying

    yes, impossible to defend. Got walked on online when player kept doing this. High cross is more difficult than 08 to score from. I switched away from auto in settings and at least it is getting to my player but still hard to score.

    The long ball is a disaster to deal with alright, the defenders seem to think just stopping and looking up is the best way to clear it. My advice is to switch to a defender who isn't marking anybody, then do your best Usain Bolt impression to get him into a covering position allowing him to win the ball easily enough in a 1v1 situation with the ball on the ground.

    its costing me loads of goals, and everyone online does it.
    Jack Charlton would be proud.

    yeah this is bloody annoying as it's got nothing to do with a person's skill level.

    Anyway I'm hoping this will be fixed when a patch is released in the coming weeks..

    1 other question I was hoping somebody could answer - when you take the ball from you opponent using the X or O button you may have pressed the X or O button more than once - when your player then reaches the ball he either passes it or pumps a long ball when all I want him to do is control the ball - is there any way you can cancel this 2nd press of the X or O button before your player reaches the ball - so bloody frustrating....

    I think its the same as the last one just hit L1 and R1 together. That can be annoying alright, it has happened a few times get the ball one on one with the keeper and then BOOM half a mile over the bar.
