Left hand car for test?

Does anyone know if you can take a driving test in Ireland in a left hand drive car?
I have been trying to find out but it seems to have me beat!!!

Anyone have any idea?

Yes, a left hand drive car would be fine for the test. There was a thread about this a few months back where someone got in touch with the RSA and confirmed it was fine. So long as the car was registered in Ireland.

Once its registered and has duty paid should be okay - will just be a little harder IMO being on wrong side, overtaking would be a pain

Just wondering, in a LHD car, if they request an offside reversing manoeuvre rather than the traditional nearside one.

I always think that it is a bit unfair that, in the C+E test, they can request either side. The nearside reverse (i.e. the car type one) is a lot more difficult in an 'artic' as one can only use the left mirror to monitor progress on the nearside. This becomes difficult when the tractor unit is an an acute angle to the trailer. In the offside reverse, the driver can simply look out the side window to monitor the progress of the trailer regardless of the angle.
