Im probably in the wrong forum but im sure some wise one will move me to the right one.
Anyways if i was running the country the one thing i would change in the budget is all these bloody social welfare payments. Its been driving me crazy for years. maybe its different aroudn the country but i come from a rural area. I have worked all my life, my partner works, we have a little 3 year old daughter. We rent a house cause we cannot afford to build or buy we have a crappy old car that might just pass the NVT if we are lucky. Across the road from where we live there are council houses, i know most of the families that live in them we are a small rural community. Those that live in them never even looked for jobs never bothered, not that there were no jobs out there they could not be arsed.

These freeloaders have their own homes thanks to the council, they have their medical covered by the social welfare, they have their houses furnished by the socail welfare, i see them picking their kids up from school in 08 people carriers. they get fuel allowance, they get food vouchers. They live for free.
sorry its a rant i didnt intend to rant but here i am ranting, i guess at the end of the day its us that are working that are stupid, im actually looking forward to this "property crash" maybe now someday we will be able to afford to buy our own home.
Why is it that people that dont bother working are better off than the idiots that do work

Snore. You just sound bitter. Some people do abuse the social welfare system but the majority who avail of it do so because they need it, whether in the short term or in the long term. No-one who lives off social welfare payments can afford a brand-new car, get real. How certain are you that none of them have jobs?

I've lived on the dole for several months in the past and its no picnic. Some day you and your family might fall into circumstances where you rely on social welfare payments, I hope you don't but if you do maybe you'll appreciate that the system is there for a good reason. In the meantime, would you really prefer to be scrounging a living from social welfare payments rather than making your own way through life?

Eh yeah when the economy hits the crapper, its the wrong time to complain about social welfare payments since there are now legitimately people who can't find jobs.

Should have complained about it before people were getting layed off with no alternative work available.

    This is the Irish curse.

Whenever we see someone with something that's newer, bigger or better than the one that we have, we automatically assume that they're doing way better than we are and that we're just a mug slogging away.

You have no idea if those people with 08 cars even own those cars. How many are on hire-purchase? How many have been bought with huge five-year bank loans?

How many of those people are so up to their eyeballs in credit card and other forms of debt that they barely scrape enough together to make the minimum payment each month?

You don't know? Then how do you know how many of those people are living the cushy life, buying cars with cash and getting everything for free? None of them, I would wager.

In my experience, there are only two types of people who live in council estates and have the best of the best:
    1. People with rich relatives
    2. Criminals (but even they've opted for living in private housing now).

Everyone else is simply borrowing as much as they can and pissing all of their money against the wall.

What I would do is look at the high-cost, low-earning manufacturing industries still left in this country which are struggling. Then I'd compensate the owners, close them down and move the industries into the prisons and force everyone to work their time in prison.

I'd make it mandatory for school children(up to Leaving Cert) do at least 2hours of PE in school per week as well as learn about healthy eating in class. This may combat some of the growing obesity problems facing the country.

The free loaders are a big problem, cut their money and send out people to force work on them.

As for the high priced property, they should build huge housing estates on the outskirts of places that were once suburbs, these houses will be made out of good cheap material and then you get the people without jobs to build them!

So the people that were once on the dole have jobs and there is then cheap decent property, A place to put couples whinging about house prices! :D

Now i think this country needs a few nuclear plants and chemical weapons facilities in cork.

If you were running the country, i'd lead a bloody revolt.
I know it's easier to have a bloodless coup, but i feel it's time for blood. Lots of it.
An unending torrent of it, like a school of whales all on the rag at once.

I disagree with your assesment of people on welfare, i guess is what i'm trying to say.

Yes! What this country needs is a couple of decades worth of hastily thought-out, cheaply built houses! A sort of "bubble" of housing, if you will. Great stuff man. A previously unheard of concept there. Are you a Fianna Fail parliamentary party member or a shill of the building trade by any chance?

I'd put everybody on welfare, then everybody would have to stop crying about who got what.

If I was running this country I wouldn't care what you all did as I'd be too busy siphoning money off to pay for a nice private island off the west coast. Now where could I get my own herd of red deer to add some colour?

Anyway if I did decide to take an interest I'd easily solve unemployment by enrolling the unemployed in my death and intimidation squads and setting them on a small defenceless section of the community. Nothing better for public morale then allowing the majority of the people to legally bully others.

Em, sorry dude, but people on welfare with children are entitled to the free provision of cars/people wagons. I know a case personally in my hometown where the seperated (welfare recipient) mother and father of a large brood of social miscreants have been provided with a people wagon each because their children need to be transported to/from school (within walking distance) etc.

They can avail of this through creative use of the Mobility Allowance or the Motorised Transport Grant, under the aegis of the HSE.

Better yet, we could build upwards rather than outwards thus achieving a more efficient use of space. Now, where shall we put these low cost accommodation towers? :pac:

Its no picnic if you dont want to be on the dole. If you do its a hell of a picnic.

It is in its nutz. If you think that taking 200 euro a week is a picnic then more power to you. I would barely be able to pay rent and abuse my liver on that kinda cake.

I sat and listened to a lad saying "My disease is I just dont like work" and then sponge of other family members rent free etc, living with mother and getting the dole. His GF getting rent allowance for a kid they planned and hadnt a penny to their name. Its a picnic it you want it to be - I hated the idea of the dole and worked on the sites abroad to avoid it in the 90's. It would be no picnic for me but for others it is.
