    Hi,

I'm setting up a new ftp/web server. I've been following instructions here (http://www.rayheffer.com/linux%20web%20server.shtml).

I've run into trouble with vsftp though (about halfway down the page). I've followed his instructions, but I'm not sure they're entirely correct. First of all, the file /etc/vsftpd.userlist doesn't exist, it is actually /etc/vsftpd.user_list
I've removed all users, and added the adminftp user as specified in his instructions.

However, I cannot log in with the admin ftpuser from my PC. I'm using command line FTP. When I enter the username (adminftp) it just denies me access without asking for a password.

I'm pretty new to linux, and very new to configuring vsftp, so any help would be most appreciated.

    Thanks :)
