Can you buy monthly tickets in regular ticket retailers (newsagents etc) or can you only get the more expensive tickets from ticketmaster?

    Thanks.

You can buy all Dublin Bus prepaid tickets from newsagents with the exception of Annual passes.

One other thing, is the 30 Day Rambler Smartcard the most economical ticket (disregarding longer duration tickets) if you only use the bus and travel 5 days a week at €3.40 total fare per day?

I picked up a student travel card today which seems to have been a total waste of money since I discovered the student tickets are consecutive days only. This means I lose between 8-10 days worth of travel per monthly ticket.

    Student 7 Day Travelwide: €18.00
    Student 30 Day Bus /Luas Ticket: €73.00
30 day Rambler Smartcard (non consecutive days): €90.00

    7 days - 2 days of weekends = 5 days @ €18
    30 days - ~8 days of weekends = ~22 days @ €73
    30 days @ €90

    Price per day: ~€3.6
    Price per day: ~€3.32
    Price per day: ~€3

Or have I made a balls of it somewhere?

If you are never going to use a bus at weekends, then yes the 30 day rambler smartcard is the best value ticket if you are only ever going to take two EUR 1.70 bus journeys each day.

The student 7-day is €19, or it was last time I paid for it.

I save more with the 30-day bus and luas, despite non-usage of luas.
