    Whats up guys?

Just have a question for those of you who train, when use do pad work what do use concentrate on? Focus on technique and getting your form right or do you imagine your in an actuall bout and your opponent is in front of you?

I love working the pads but the last while my mind has been wandering and by the end of my workout I feel like Ive shortchanged meself and dont feel happy with my session......

    Any help? Cheers:)

I just use it to work on my combinations rather than hitting a person. The pad holder should be doing all the work in terms of combinations and what they want you to do.

Shadow-boxing can be used to visualise, but nothing beats a good old fashioned spar ;)

Yea I agree about the spar pal,its just that I use to feel great after doing pad work and confident and sharp but I feel the opposite now.............my mind just seems to be wandering, I just cant keep my focus!

Pads should focus on technique and simulate a spar only for you wont be hit, the pad man controls the combo's and you use your reactions and technique for the rest..

When someones holding pads for you should they keep their hands static like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXB71VZTn9A&feature=related

or kind of slap the pads towards the punches like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g3wb_Nqk6fw

Just wondering the pros and cons of each.

    Thanks

you should gently slap the pads but it should be very hard to notice, if its obvious then i'd say its not been done right, if its static then there is more chance of hurting your partner.
