Hi All, just wondering if anyone can advise how long should it take an architect to come up with extension plans? draft plans have been completed for some time plus survey for measurements completed during the summer...starting to get impatient!

its just a single story extension, nothing extravagant

    you hold all the aces....

    contact him, ask him......

if youre not happy with his time frame, let him know....

theres a huge amount of factors that determine time frames, but architects should be crying out for work these days...

It shouldnt take more than 4 weeks to get back to you with a set of plans once preliminary designs have been agreed, BUT, as sydthebeat says, contact him! You should always agree a programme of works and deliverables with your architect, as there is really no set timeframe to deliver to a client in this industry, as every job is different. A rule of thumb is that the speed of information receipt is directly proportional to the amount of contact with the architect, but is liable to crest at the point of annoyance and drop dramatically to the architect ignoring you once you pss them off. Good Luck
