    Hey photo enthusiasts,
Canon and The Dubliner have teamed up to offer budding Dublin photographers a chance to win some fantastic prizes and get their work published in a magazine.

    Here are the details:

Dubliner Day / Dubliner Night Photography Competition

Canon and The Dubliner are running a street photography competition with €1,500 worth of photography equipment up for grabs. We want you to submit candid pictures of your favourite places and people in Dublin by day or by night. The best entries will form part of a six page feature in our December/January issue and will also go on display in an exclusive exhibition for our readers.

The top prize is a Canon EOS 450D, the award winning digital SLR camera; a Canon lab quality photoprinter, the SELPHY ES3 portable photo printer; and a Creative Photography Night evening course. Two runners up will receive a Canon SELPHY ES3 portable photo printer. "Let’s play" – the tagline for the Canon 450D – is true to the spirit of the competition. We want you to capture a snapshot of the essence of Dublin for a chance to win one of these fantastic prizes.

    Deadline is 12 Nov.

Submit your photographs to Canon Photography Competition, The Dubliner, 23 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2 OR e-mail your high res photographs to
    canon@thedubliner.ie.

    Good luck!

Yeah. We know that printing can get expensive, so offering an alternative is important to us. If you want to upload your photos and send us a link, that's OK too.

:D No. You can take your photos on a disposable Kodak if you want. Canon is just sponsoring the competition. Best of luck!

As high res files can be anything from 5- 50 MB your email will be swamped

On the receiving end that may be true but not necesarilly for the sender. I remember trying to send a 15Mb file from every possible account I cound get hold of and on every ocassion, the server just choked on it.

Uploading to an ftp server might be easier.

agreed. i couldn't go last night but one of my pics made it through. was SO impressed with the quality of work when i went along this evening to have a look. some truly wonderful shots there; i must have walked around the room about six times!
shame i couldnt go last night actually as i would have loved to have met some of the photographers whose shots i particularly liked. there was a b+w one of (what looked like) a homeless man with a coffee cup looking straight down the lens that i fell in love with.

What is the fixation with homeless people around here.

I await the "Bankers out on their Ars***s Pics. Bring them on!
