Anyone done this? looking for black leather to suit 00 Honda Accord.

    - Would appreciate any tips, considerations, advice or a good [€ reasonably priced] supplier.

P.S. Is this just going to attract broken windows
P.P.S Couldn't live with the alternative of strapping & unstrapping screens every 23 mins.

i dont think you buy the head rests with screens in them.

you could go to one of the audio places like icetronix etc etc etc

(not recommending icetronix or anything but there first to come to mind)

they will take you existing headrests and retro fit in maybe some 7 inch or 6 inch screens into them for you.

actually have a look at these : http://www.autoaudio.ie/shop/catalog.asp?id=91&subcatid=68&maincat_id=12

You can buy plenty of these headrests (and good qaulity I may add) from ebay. I done something similiar except I had the courage / stupidity to attack the orginal headrest of my Alfa and install the screens up through the dash.

Did help that I had a fair idea of what I was doing though.

    Hi,

I purchased these a couple of years ago ('06) and installed them in my VW Passat. I have since sold the car and left them in it so I can't comment on how long thy lasted! The quality was pretty good though and VW wanted about €1,500 for basically the same thing....

    http://www.chinavasion.com/product_info.php/pName/7-inch-lcd-car-headrest-dvd-player-fm-transmitter-pair-black/

I installed them myself. It took about 3 hrs as i had to route the cables down the back of the seat to got them to a power supply.
The thing I liked about them was the fact I did not have to get any of the cables to the radio as it has a built in FM transmitter so it played the DVD's directly through the car radio. Downside was I had to listen to Barney as well!!
I hardwired the power supply through the back of a 12V power outlet that was at the back of the centre armrest.
I had them for about 18 months with no problems. They did not get any unwanted attention because the screen is 'black' and so is the headrest (black leather) so it kind of blended in.
One thing to note is that Chinavasion shipping costs to Ireland was about €60 2 yrs ago, but it was still far cheaper than buying here.

    Mike.

Thanks for all the replies so far folks :)

Seems like a nice Sat. morning project.

Anyone know about the legalities of having a LCD screen in the Drivers line of sight while in transit? In some Countries the handbrake needs to be engaged before the screen powers up. Just asking out of curiosity really and possibly for passenger in front or to change settings/discs for kids without having to get out and into the back.

Can't see a front LCD playing Bob the Builder being more distracting than if someone is late for a meeting and desperately consulting their Sat Nav screen every 30 seconds; although I wouldn't mind driving around while watching Band Of Brothers and sipping a cold beer either [joke :P]

I know when I initially had the in-dash DVD screen it was very distracting for a week or two. though I very quickly learned to ignore it / turn it off if there was no front passenger.

AFAIK it's legal to have it on when driving though don't quote me on that

Just find covers on ebay or wherever to throw over them when you aren't using them if you aren't using them. Saw someone do this in a 5series and it works perfectly :)

    - Anyone else have advice on where to pick up a good quality pair of screens [or full kit] at the right price?
