Does it make any difference to the landlord if rent relief is claimed by the tenants?

I mean, if they are properly registered and paying tax etc. does it make any difference to them if tenants claim rent relief?

They dont pay the relief or get taxed any differently do they? Does the tenant need a receipt of rent paid to claim the relief or is it ok to issue the receipt if / when the tax man comes knocking? How likely is it that the tax man will need a receipt?

    Thanks for any insight.

Its only a problem for the landlord if they are not declaring the rental problem. This not your problem though, and you are entitled to claim, how they run their finances is not your problem.

You only need to provide receipts if the revenue request them, but you really should have them for your own records anyway.

We have been making tax returns for years and not been asked to hand in any receipts, so unless they are doing an audit on you, or they do it on a random basis its unlikely they will ask for receipts. Could be just your luck though

The lease on the house is in one persons name only, can the other people living there claim the tax relief if they are not on the lease?

As long as you have a reciept, you'll be fine.
