    Hi
I am 25 years old with Bsc IT degree and PM Diploma, I have recently earned the PMP qualification. I currently manage small projects for a multinational company and I currently earn 45k but since getting the PMP I am looking to move to a job with a better base salary.
Is there anybody who works in recruitment who would be able to offer there opinion?

Whats your level of experience? A new qualification will not guarantee you a better base.
If your experience is limited (ie 1-2 years out of your degree) then I would recommend remaining where you are and build a decent level of experience.

But the answer to your original question is about as long as a piece of string. Projects vary in their complexity and size, not to mention technical level.

I am 5 years out of college and have worked on various financial projects, I understand how different projects are and have looked on the various jobs sites but was just throwing the question out there to see if I could get any ballpark figures back

Depends on sector and company but PM is a good career. In IT PMs with say 5 years experience would earn 70-80, more experienced can get 90 and the best get 120+. Bonuses and expenses on top, nice if you can get it!

Spot on IMO, I would say your 45k is on the mark at the moment if not slightly high. Get involved with larger projects to increase your incremental pay rises. If you jump ship now you would be lucky to get 50k.

Cheers for the advice, guess I was just looking for the quick buck :D

Agree with Leadership, if I were you I'd look not just to work on projects, but start getting involved in actively managing them, or taking on a stream within a project.

Have you experience to date in managing project budgets etc ?

    Hi,
I have worked on Project for 4 years since I left college, I have some experiance with budgets but because I work from a multi-national the PMO gives me a budget in man-days and I have to use that instead of cash. I was previously managing a certain stream of the project but I have recently been given my own projects to manage in full.

Might be an option to continue getting the certs, prince 2, Black belt etc.

I was thinking of getting Prince2 practitioner but it costs €1500 and since my work uses PMI they are unwilling to pay for it. I think alot of companies view Prince as being 2 strict. I was also told by a guy here that they prefer to have staff with PMP as it takes 3 years to get as where Prince only takes 5 days

i think a man of your calibre with Bsc, PM Diploma and PMP qualification should earn around 47-49k

if you got for the A++ and CCNA, add another 1-2k give or take.

personally, i have a Bsc in computer science with CCNA and ++ in all letters of the alphabet, ..of course i've been livin it up on 100k a year.

the point is, some people just don't realise, you gotta start at the bottom and work your way up. can't value yourself on age or qualifications, although its nice to think that way.

certainly paying €1500 gives you balls in this game, that goes along way too.
actually, maybe talk to your bank manager about it, i'm sure he sees future benefits.

Well cheers for all of the advice, I guess I will stick with my current role for the time being and get a bit more experiance. With the state that the economy is in, I should be grateful that I have a job. :)
