Neeson as Lincoln

Theres a very interesting debate on IMDB regarding Spielberg picking Liam Neeson for the upcoming biopic 'Lincoln'. A lot of posters think it should be an american actor, pretty silly arguement IMO. I think if he can get the accent right and look gaunt, he could be just perfect.

Anyway, has anyone heard any further details on this movie, it seems to be announced and rumour, but there is no concrete production details or confirmation that neeson will have the roile anywhere.

Got this photoshop of how neeson may look, pretty cool huh?

I have nothing against a non-American playing him, I just think the person should be able to do an American accent

You can kinda see their point, Neeson is a fantastic actor obviously but we wouldn't have liked an American playing Michael Collins instead of him and sure we kicked up a stink over Julia Roberts being in that too. In fairness, she gave a rubbish performance but still! I wonder how Brits felt about Robin Hood being played by Kevin Costner in his American Accent way back

What's to say he can't do an American accent? His accent was pretty good in Seraphim Falls.

I thought it was an interesting and good decision that they did not try to disguise his accent in Taken.

I would not have cared if collins was played by someone else, it just turns out Neeson was near perfect. Costner was linked with a michael collins film at one stage, I would have liked to see that heppen. I remember being part of the Croker crowd scene in michael collins, it was held in Bray wanderers ground and was great fun. Alan Rickman was there signing autographs and pictures and stuff and generally being very accessable to all. gent.

But for lincoln, he will surely have to nail it, otherwise the US or A will get patriotic on his ass!!!
