I've actually never heard any of them.. Does that make me less cool or more cool?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,460 ✭✭✭Orizio

I know of absolutely none of those bands.

Is that a good or bad thing...

Well none really, but if I had to it'd be between the first and last as Fight Like Apes are dreadful.

Who are they and what have they done to deserve a poll?

I hate the blizzards, i tolerate the coronas and i have yet to listen to fight like apes...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 530 ✭✭✭Placid_Casual

Fight like apes by default, as they're the only one who don't make me want to take a hammer to my radio.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 100 ✭✭reganovich

I saw the blizzards and they were good but caught a small bit of fight like apes at ****** and they sounded great..so they'd definitely be my pick...the Coronas might be good i dunno cos I absolutely loath that song they had out ya know the "sleep all day, drink...we're not wasting our time" anthem for assholes imo eugh

They're all quite a bit boring, but i'd easily take Fight Like Apes over the other two bands.

I wouldn't pay to see any of those poor excuses for bands.

I prefer good music. Don't worry - you probably haven't heard of it yet! ;)

none of them by choice, but FLA are definitely the worst of the three.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 717 ✭✭✭Aspiration

Fight Like Apes for me. And apparently their debut album isn't great. I liked them a few months ago but now they're starting to p*ss me off more and more since they played SXSW and Glastonbury and got #2 for NME's 10 Hopes Of The Near Future...

Seeing The Coronas on the 2fm 2moro tour was a waste of time but BV made up for it and more. They're also not very friendly. Tried to talk to them and the bassist looked at me as if I had 10 heads and had an air of *rsehole about him.

The Blizzards are good at what they do - I'm just not a fan of the whole ska thing going on with them.

    Out of the three, FLA.

Where's the save the money and buy a decent CD option? They're all equally at the end of the good bad spectrum

You keep telling yourself that! :D

    You're what, 18? 19 now?

And btw - I'm talking about good music not your sort of music. :D

wouldn't be a huge fan of any of them but i'd have to go with fight like apes..

had the complete and utter misfortune to see the blizzards a couple weeks ago and i hope to never ever see or hear them again, truly truly atrocious so they are..

the corona's i'm not too familiar with but i can't shake the feeling that they're like a more annoying "j'immediath"...

so yeah, fight like apes get my vote..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,731 ✭✭✭11811

out the three i'd have to say FLA, the blizzards really annoy me, the coronas are one of the most boring bands i've seen live (thank god it was a free gig).
FLA are a good live band (not quite sure if i could sit listen to their album tho),have lots of energy are a bit of a laugh.

but then again i'm a dj, musician and sound engineer and know jack all about music....

Yep I am indeed 18 years of age, Did a diploma in Pulse instead of transition year.
    Fully qualified one year
In use of pro tools 101
    Music technology.
Live sound but more so studio sound but thats ****e,
    Post Production
use of most sound equiptment i'm a bit rusty with the new digital desks mind. The Yamaha one especially, not some much the digi design one as you can download the software pre gig. Plus once you do a band once ya just save your mix on to a usb and stick it in and Viola there are your settings. My fave would be analog desks especially midas, the venice is a bit **** but ok for small venues eg Whelans.

And to clarify you don't know what type of music I like show me where I stated that.
I have no choice but to hire one of these 3 bands and I wanted to see which would plug in more revenue for charity.

I don't like any of these bands in fact I absolutley hate fight like apes. Too gimicky
The corona's are pro tools-ed to bits. Tey are terrible live and their sound engineer is a fool. Blowing amps, taking 2 hours to do sound check when he has 5 other bands playing too. Who do they think they are, just cause Mary black is yer man's ma.Always with the Feedback, always using Audix mike's when the singer clearly has a nasaly voice, not made for audix microphones at all. Just stick to teh SM58, doesn't want to use industry standard cause they are The Corona's

Blizzards have to give em fair dues they worked pretty damn hard to make that album, wnet to 100's of differnt studio spaces to get the right sound as opposed to just recording it in a week, graphic eq settings ana a bitta pro tools and done. They recored old school.

    :D Fight like Apes! :D

Already seen them this year not only in Cork city, but also in Michelstown Indiependence Fest (Main reason we went there!) and at Reading Festival. At Reading we were promoting them to loads of random people, the only problem was describing their music to them!

Can't wait to see them again, it would've been a couple of weekends back but they had to postpone their Irish tour as they managed to get offered the slot of Supporting The Ting Tings on their current UK tour.

You'd wanna be carefuly bad-mouthing them all online if you're hoping to book 'em in a while!

definitely fight like apes. although in fairness it's a no brainer considering that both the coronas and the blizzards are incredibly horrible. fla rock though, very interesting sound!

I've seen the coronas and FLA Both brilliant in their own way . Voted for FLA though. They're a great live band

Haven't heard FLA, but I'm told they're pretty good. Seen the other 2 a few times, and I'd well prefer the Blizzards. Prefer the Blizzards new album to the coronas aswell.
