You need to see a doctor about this - it could be something like an ulcer. Nobody here can give you medical advice.

Well jellybean08, the heartburn feeling that you get is actually stomach acid moving back towards your throat and "burning" your oesophagus/foodpipe. Medical advice is not offered as such on these boards, but if it is affecting you this much you should see your GP on monday and discuss it with them.

lots of people suffer from heartburn and therefore maybe try some RENNIE first, cost less then 5 Euro and might sort it out. If it doesn't get better or it keeps coming back every once in a while..than see your GP. Unless, ofcourse, you think you need to see a GP! As said before..no medical help provided here and you know your body best! Good luck.

Don't think he was looking for medical help just some advise on what might be the issue.

(Possibly) the same thing has been happening with me. I find that if i eat little and often it helps, rather than eating a big meal.

Had this 2 years ago for about 2 months. Got an endoscopy and all sorts of tests, thought it was an ulcer but it turned out to be just excess acid or something. Used to be worse in the morning, would vomit sometimes for relief. It went away by itself but i found a constant supply of bisodol or rennie helped a bit
Oh and it MAY be stress related

they say a glass of milk lines the insides with a protective layer.. but as said above go to the doc

Glass of milk... bull****... sorry. If anything this will make it worse with the fat in the milk creating more acid etc etc...

You will get it worse if you are flat on your back, wear loose clothing, watch eating late at night, try avoid fatty and greasy foods, alcohol is also a big contributor. It may not be that you have an ulcer, but with if you do not look after yourself you may be on your way to one, or two...

An ulcer is the end product of your stomach producing too much acid... It's best if you try prevent it.

Heartburn (Reflux) is a horrible thing to have, you can get some rennie or gaviscon in the chemist but if it is persistant you should really go to a GP with the complaint. Hopefull it is not too serious and it is just something passying ;) Good luck with it anyway.

I have this problem all the time

If I let myself get really hungry, excess acid builds up in my stomach and it goes into spasm by the time I eat. Eating little and often cures this. If (due to going out to dinner or something) this is not an option, I normally eat a slice of bread as soakage for the acid. (NOTE: I am NOT giving any medical advice, just explaining in general what happens to me).

I'm also lactose intolerant and get a very very bad heartburn feeling that is NOT fixed by rennies or gaviscon. It's a crippling type heartburn and I can't stand up straight when it happens.

I spent years going back and forth from doctor to specialist.

I was tested for Coeliac disease and also placed on medication to check if it was an ulcer due to excess acid (I didn't want anything invasive like an endoscopy). This helped somewhat but not totally. In the end I did a little of my own research about food intolerance, went back to my doctor and had my suspicions confirmed.

My brother has gastrooesophigal reflux disease and certain foods will set that off on him and he will actually get sick, as opposed to being in crippling pain.

If I was in your position I'd think very carefully about your symptoms. Note what you've been eating, when you've been eating, how hungry you were before eating etc etc whenever this happens. That way WHEN you go to your doctor about this (and you should really), you can give full and concise answers. It will also give your doctor a better starting point as there's so much that can be wrong that any narrowing down (or not, as the case may be) will help.

    Hey,

This isn't medical advise, just my situation.

I had a similar problem very recently. Got sharp pains in my stomach for a week. The pains went away when i ate so my dad (a doctor) said it was an ulcer. Something to do with food neutralising acid and hence there is no acid attaking the ulcer causing pain. When i found this out after a week of pain, i felt relieved and went out on the piss and woke up and the pain was gone. two weeks later a simiar pain was back. This time in my kidneys and lower back. I got really scared and wanted to get tests done. In the end i didn't and after a week and a bit it went away.

It hasn't been back since so i've decided to nip it in the but by eating healthily. I'm gonna start eating proper yogurt (natural flaovourless stuff. as in any brand that DOES NOT advertise on TV). I'm smoking less aswel.

Try to eat healthier and see what happens. Eat foods like cabbage, garlic, yogurt, oranges, and lots of fruit and vegetables. If you feel better after a quick diet change then stick to it and maybe it'll go away. Couldnt hurt!

By the way don't take this as or a replacement for proper medical advice! Feel Better! :D

This is not a medical forum and we are not doctors.
Nobody in here knows what's wrong with you and you'd be mad to take any kind of advice from people on the internet.

Go to your GP and discuss your problem.
