Can't Program Sky Remote

My brother and I have just bought two second hand sky digiboxes. My brother's is a replacement for his ancient digibox. They both work as we tried them with an old sky remote.

Yesterday I bought two sky remotes but we can't programme them. I've been Googling for the past hour but I can't find an answer. This is what happens when we try to program them:

To program using the 3 digit code.

1) Switch on the TV set.

2) Press the TV button on the Sky Remote.

3) Hold down the select and red buttons for 2-3 seconds until the LED blinks twice. - Nothing happens - thought it might be the batteries so checked them but when the back of the remote is put back on, the LED blinks continually and just won't do anything else.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hi Genie,

You didn't by any chance buy SKY+ remotes did you. These won't work on a standard Digibox.

No, they are definitely not Sky+ remotes. I did check as I've not had a Sky digibox before so all this is completely new to me.

I found those codes, thanks, it's just that the remote won't let us even get as far as putting in the codes...

In the back of your sky manual it has something about programming your sky remote to your tv.

Take batteries out for half an hour and try again.

or the remote could be just faulty.

I'm going on the assumption that you're doing everything by the book.

im having the same problem...... is anything supposed to appear on screen when the light flashes? or do you just go ahead and enter the digits??

Nothing appears on the screen. If you follow instructions and it works then the tv should turn off.

Try entering the 3 digit code instead of the 4 digit code if you have one. I remember I entered the 4 digit code on my Sony tv and it only worked for about 2mins then for some reason would not control the tv anymore so I just tried it with the 3 digit code and that worked fine.

I know this thread is some years old but someone might find this answer in a search

I too have had problems programming our Rev6 remote and found by
accident this combination to work for me.

(Whilst pointed at tv)
Cover top of remote with hand and Press tv then remove hand
Together press and hold select and red till two blinks
then press tv
enter "code" then you should get two blinks but sometimes nothing
then press tv
then on/off (Should work and turn tv from on to standby)
then Select and you'll get two blinks but sometimes nothing.

We had a Lidl special by the brand of Welltech, I tried to programme
for it but failed and when I went to reprogramme for the Panasonic
the remote started acting up.
