Avast Warning : rootkit hidden boot sector

Hi, Whilst browsing today with some other programs open my laptop decided to close all the programs and restart itself. Hi, Whilst browsing today with some other programs open my laptop decided to close all the programs and restart itself.

When it booted again Avast came with the following warning:

rootkit hidden boot sector found

MBR: \\.\PSHSICALDRIVE0

Then it restarted for me and scanned the machine.

Everything seems to be fine now but i have never seen this message before and i am wondering how it got past the anti-virus.

Is it spyware ?

Sounds like you have the MBR rootkit, head over to the virus removal area
