I have a full time job but I have been offered a contract role which is only six months duration but will pay me more over six months than my current position will in 12 months. There are other contract roles out there that I probably could look at after this is finished but I'm wondering are there risks or are there any sites I could look at for advice ? Thanks.

Risks? Impossible to know whout reading your current contract but in here in France youd lose your full-time job if you took on the 2nd.

Not sure what you are looking for here. I assume by full time you actually mean permanent. Either way only you can decide how risky either is. It depends how you could survive without a job, do you have a mortgage, kids, loans to service. You won't get on in life by taking no risks, but at the same time you have to accept some pain. I left a permanent job, and went contracting. While it wasn't as financially worthwhile as I'd hoped, I was worth far more than that in experience gained.
