    Hi Guys,
    Looking for a basic laptop, mainly web browsing some office & photos. Will probably put ubuntu on it & use that 95% of the time but want a windows boot as well for the odd use. (This is how I use my current laptop which is now toast :()

    Budget: as cheap as possible, but a "real" laptop not a netbook
    Use: as above
    Mobility: not important, mainly for couch use
    Warranty: Don't believe in paying over the odds for this, so something basic will do.

    Have come across this model Toshiba Satellite Pro L300D-11I, which on dabs.ie & other site is about E400
    http://www.dabs.ie/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=56KM&SearchType=1&CategorySelectedId=11012&SearchTerms=toshiba+satellite+pro&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=11012
    I figure:
    Toshiba = decent quality
    120GB disk = plenty for me (already have a USB drive)
    wireless lan = needed, should be standard anyway
    dual core = good
    1GB Ram = just about enough (figure i can upgrade for cheaper than the 2GB model)
    Ram is also 800 Mhz & upgradeable to 8GB. Some budget models only go to 2GB max!

    Not into gaming& won't be carrying it around it as I said.

    Anything wrong with my logic above? Any other suggestions?
    I figure for E407 with shipping, it's hard to beat.
    Thanks.
