    Get it repaired somewhere.
    Buy another one.
    Buy something else.

    What's your budget?

I've been shopping about too and I am really impressed with the latest creative X-FI which is alo available with WIFI in the 16gb and 32gb versions.
The 8gb is the same with of course the exception of wifi and larger memory. but all versions have and SD slot which can take large memory, meaning above and well beyond 2gb.
You can also watch movies and I believe Creative support more movie formats than ipod. The card slot is also an advantage if you use a digital camera which supports SD cards.

You will of course pay extra for the WIFI versions but if you'd be happy with the 8gb then you'll get it for around €150 euro. Or better still if you visit the North often or are close to the border you will get the 8gb version in Argos for £99.

You could ask this crowd how much for replacement. They don't repair ipods afaik, but may be able to exchange it for a refurbished one for a discounted price. Price wise though you will probably be better off buying a newer model.

What exactly is wrong with it? If it's reletively minor then you can purchase an iPod repair kit and do it yourself. If not, just gotta take it to an Apple store and see what they can do really. :)
